Updates, in photos

Filed under: Livin' Da Vida Loca,More Photos, Less Words — weixiang @ 11:30 pm

I know there hasn’t been much content updates here lately, but even more devoid are the photo updates, so I don’t suppose it’s too late to upload photos of a month ago?

ZoukOut last year was the blast – it was, I dare say, the best party I’ve been to in my ENTIRE life!  Even when I think about it now, about a month later, I can feel the tingle of adrenaline rushing through me, and this “staying power” is truly what makes a party outstanding on its own.  I’m not a big fan of house or trance music, but everyone was so high that night that we would’ve rocked to Chinese getai either way.  The crowd was great, and really accomodating too – when we were queuing up we were screaming all sorts of nonsense, making so much noise, and basically being really annoying.  I think many people around us wanted to beat us up (I don’t know, I was so wasted that I only saw happy faces everywhere), but we all survived the night in one piece.  Nobody puked either.

ZoukOut 2010, anyone?

Outing with Cheryl and Delphine when I was still working with SPH – that was really a long time ago!

With Delphine and Cheryl again on Christmas Day.

Primary School BBQ gathering.

Clubbing.  That night was really bad and I believe I owe some people apologies for my behaviour.  Actually I don’t remember which comes earlier either – the Christmas Day outing, the above gathering, or the below photos.

JC class gathering.

Gasp!  Shock!  There’s a girl with blue hair!  My ex-classmate dyed her hair blue, I know!

Sorry to say it was a wig though.  She received it as a Christmas present and instead of throwing it into a corner to collect dust, she thought she might as well wear it out and walk all around City Hall, attracting the stares of strangers with their mouths hanging open.  I swear I didn’t even dare to walk next to her.

But yes, we were shocked when we first saw it too.  I thought she was genuinely fashion-challenged.  But it takes guts to dare to wear it and strut around with confidence, to look at people in the eye and smile as if there was nothing amiss!

Lastly, dinner with Geordie at Dempsey’s (two weeks ago I think).

Photos amoungst the clutter

Filed under: Livin' Da Vida Loca,More Photos, Less Words — weixiang @ 12:50 am

I’ve decided to sort of give up for the inSing movie review thing.  I’ve been checking the competition out and there are really quite a number of strong reviews, so I see no reason why they might pick me.  I guess it’s better to be realistic sometimes, although it feels a little disappointing that I’m not as good as I wish I was.  The deadline closes this Monday and I was thinking of watching a movie and posting one last review (have only posted 2) but I don’t have available friends (and money) to watch a movie with on a Sunday.

Sorriness aside, here are some photos of KL.

Don’t mind the ugly belt; I don’t have many other belts (yeah pathetic) and had to wear that because my jeans were becoming loose (I’m actually losing weight?!) , but of course they weren’t supposed to SHOW.

Passed my aunty her camera earlier on which I borrowed for the trip.  Luckily I deleted the INCRIMINATING photos before that (no, they’re not posted here too).

Next up are photos of my cousin’s 21st birthday dinner sometime early last month.  You can see my “hot” brother whom some of you have been so CONCERNED to consistently ask about – he’s sitting in front of me.

If you noticed my Twitter on the right you’d notice my posts about Hady Mirza.  That’s right – I was in the toilet at SPH earlier this Wednesday peeing into the urinal when this guy sauntered in and I swear I almost peed on the floor when I saw that it was Hady Mirza.  He caught me gaping at him and looked away, heading straight for the basin to style his hair.  I finished peeing and went to wash my hands and he was still STANDING BESIDE ME styling his hair, so I cast him a sideway glance and he ignored me totally.  Then before I left I looked at him again and HE WAS STILL STYLING HIS HAIR.  He must be thinking that I’m some weirdo for stalking him in the toilet.  Either that or it’s part and parcel of his everyday life as a local celebrity.

I went to the canteen for lunch later AND HE WAS THERE TOO.  But he looked around at the stalls before heading down with his entourage of two women.

Seems like Singaporeans aren’t very good celebrity spotters, or maybe they don’t even care.  The canteen was filled with people and nobody even gave him a second look, besides me of course.  I gave him a second, third, fourth and maybe fifth look.   At least the people in my office gave more enthusiastic responses – these two Malay girls even told me they saw him at the reception counter and purposely waited for him to walk past them so they could ask for autographs, but he walked the other direction instead.

Speaking of toilets, earlier this week again someone shat all over the cubicle floor.  Like the diarrhoea type, not the solid type that  you could actually count.  It was quite a spectacular sight.  The cleaner was using toilet paper over a mop to clean everything up, and when I told him that my sympathies went out to him, he said that he didn’t blame the man as he understands how we cannot “make it” in time sometimes.  Apparently the man dumped his underwear and belt behind too because they were soiled too.

Thinking of dying my hair soon, but cannot decide between a dark or lighter brown.

Mish-mash.

I eat my words – my grand plan of completing my portfolio by this week is an impossibility.  I’ve already whittled the original 20 over pieces down to about 10 pieces (it’s kind of sad to think that the works of your entire life have culminated into so little) and I’ve been spending my (few) days of leave mostly at  home, but it’s impossible because I’m spending more than a few hours on each piece of writing.

I can’t sit there and expect the words to come to me right away – the train of thought and flow of inspiration cannot be forced.  It’s like shitting – if you force your shit out, it won’t feel good and, well, it won’t be a productive shit either.

And I don’t expect to kill off any inkling of a social life I have left because, well, I think I’m already pathetic enough.

And my last duty in my entire army life is on a Sunday.  The Sunday which is tomorrow.  Which means one entire gone which could’ve been spent on work.  I’m trying really really hard not to kick up a big fuss.

Stayed over at Keithy’s house on Monday because his parents were out of town and being at home alone was lonely.  Okay personally I’ve been alone at home for an entire week and I absolutely loved the freedom of being able to do whatever I wanted.  The only sucky thing was that there was nobody to wash my clothes, but thankfully a week was short enough to get by without washing anything (except myself, of course).

He showed me his resume and portfolio and I realized that I still have so much freaking work to do?!

What was I doing in school all these while?!

Thus I’m giving myself a little more time to work out my portfolio.  And my resume.

Finally met my best friend of over 11 years on Tuesday.  He was looking for this restaurant in Lucky Plaza, but quite frankly, if you were to make me eat in the environment that Lucky Plaza has to offer I would probably be more focused on finishing my meal and getting out of the place.  So we settled for Fish&Co in Heeren where it was at least cozy enough to spend that few hours talking.

Talked a lot, then moved on to Orchard Ion (I can finally say that I’ve conquered every level of that place?), bought some stuff, so now I’m broke again!

Okay I’ve nothing else to say, except that I should be clubbing tonight so I don’t know how clubbing and duty tomorow morning would go together.

“Yin3 Shui3 Si1 Yuan2″

Filed under: More Photos, Less Words — weixiang @ 9:40 pm

Was supposed to go to JB on Saturday night for shishas.  Sounds like a half-baked plan, so I wasn’t surprised when it didn’t materialize in the end and the rest of them went clubbing (to think I was still excitedly telling everyone in camp how I was going to JB).  I went back to school for the event when students past and present converge for one night – our Mid Autumn Festival.

There must have been something about the evening air, or how the festival talks about reminiscence and togetherness, because suddenly I was missing everything – the school, old friends, teachers, and the life we led in the past.  The last time I went back to school was last year, to collect my certificate and testimonials.  The last time I talked to some of the people I talked to yesterday was when we were all back in school donning uniforms, almost two years ago.  People grow up and move forward, but a part of us will always remember the common memories and history that we share.

In the end, I was glad to go back to revisiting memories instead of going for shishas.

And yes, who am I trying to kid – I had a great time people watching too, especially with Delphine and Cheryl.

Spent almost an hour trying to figure out how to upload images properly, so here goes.
